Odwalla's Plant-A-Tree Program

For those of you Odwalla enthusiasts (or enviro-lovers who have yet to try Odwalla), the 2009 Plant-A-Tree program has finally launched.

What is it? Odwalla will donate $1 to planting trees in state parks around the country.

What do you have to do? Just click
here or paste this link into your browser: http://www.parkvisitor.com/odwalla

Why? Is for Jeanine's undying love a response? Or perhaps You'll feel better knowing you just added a little aide against carbon output into the world? Try: If you do this, you'll knowingly have just advanced the betterment of your planet Earth for this and future generations to come. You'll wake up tomorrow with a fresher perspective on life. In fact, you'll wake up one hour earlier, eat a bowl of Kashi, down that Vitamin C-induced glass of OJ, take the dog for a jaunt around the block, and return to the sun shining down over your home. Instead of sitting at your desk during lunch, you will take the initiative to go for a walk. Burn off a few calories. Along the way, you'll undoubtedly find some litter on the street, bend over to pick it up, strike up a conversation with a stunningly good looking volunteer worker whose very motivation today has taken them to the fight against litter. They will convince you to leave your job, try something new and hit the streets in support of the environment. Feeding the needy. Affirmative action [Insert your choice passion here]. You'll move out of that 2,000 square foot home. Back to the roots of smaller digs. Swig a lil Odwalla in lieu of that morning cup of joe. Start riding your bike more. Kick it up a notch and sign up for that marathon. Organize a neighborhood food drive. Spend more trips camping and less in hotels. Remind yourself of the life that exists out there in green, lush form. You'll be lead to bigger, better opportunity that will nourish your soul. Feed the world. Better the earth.

All because you opted to click on a link. One tiny link. Amazing. But back to the original point, so is this initiative by Odwalla. So click it already.

  • Reading in bed early in the night and turning out the light even earlier
  • Arranging for the new fence (cannot wait!)
  • Planting the garden: tomatoes and basil; and planning to plant the rest next weekend
  • Seeing H take his first splash of the season at Mimi and Papa's new pool
  • Drinking the first strawberry margarita of the new season alongside that same pool
  • Reading on the back patio while H takes a nap
  • That every white car Little Man sees is deemed 'Mamacar!'
  • Hanging with Uncle Colby, Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Rourke
  • Looking forward to more long, lazy days!

An Apple A Day...

After many, many trips to the grocery store, Hunter's placemat has finally been finished. Thought this might be a nice way to promote healthy eating for H as he gets older. Take a look!

New Modest Mouse Vid

It's a good music week for us, and let me explain using a short, bulleted list:

3. We bought Fleet Foxes tickets and will hit Royal Oak Music Theater on August 5th (get acquainted with their repertoire here)

2. Brad scored us tickets to see Dead Weather on July 24th at the Fillmore (no, not the East/West Coast Fillmore... Detroit is attempting to reinvent themselves as music aficionados and thus have renamed the famed State Theater "The Fillmore Detroit". Thoughts?). Who is Dead Weather you ask? Jack White's latest pet project. I'd send you to their YouTube video but it was just yanked due to copyright enfringement.

1. MODEST MOUSE HAS NEW MUSIC. I REPEAT NEW MUSIC. Need I say more? Here's the initial music vid promoting their new stuff -- I hear the single drops at the end of this month. Is everyone as excited as I am??? Come on now, who's with me?

To Make My Brother Smile

Someone posted this on their Facebook page and I just had to snag it for my bro, PJ. I have very vivid memories of us kicking to the beat of...

Oh Baby!

There's been a baby boom among friends lately. The quick countdown being:

3. Will Payne (mom Patti was one of the original Friends girls who has since moved to Houston)

2. Hadley Mae, daughter of my friend/former copywriter Jessica

1. Cameron Lynn, daughter of Bo and Sandra

Since many of you have known of Bo from his original collegiate hey days with Brad, it's time to accept that these boys have grown up and started families of their own. My most recent conversation with Bo involved his views on organic fruits and the usage of glass baby bottles... times certainly have changed from when Bo used to convince me to drive the getaway car while he set off fireworks in neighbors' yards. (!)
I think perhaps the point missing here though is that it is now official... Hunter's future girlfriend and playmate, Cameron, has made her debut. And we couldn't be more thrilled for two of our oldest friends, Bo and Sandra.

She DOES Exist... Mommy!

Since I tend to be the one behind the camera lens, it's rare that an image appears of HWB and Mommy spending time together. That's why I was so grateful to my Mom for snapping this quick photo (among other things to be grateful to her for). What are we doing you ask? Why watching Elmo on Mommy's iPhone of course!

This Just In

Bo and Sandra's long wait is over! Baby girl Cameron Pennell was born this morning... Details (and hopefully photos) to come!
